हिरण्यस्तूप / HIRAṆYASTŪPA. A great sage, the son of aṅgiras. (ṛgveda, Maṇḍala 1, Anuvāka 7, Sūkta 31).

Hiraṇya-stūpa is the name of a man in the Rigveda^1 and in
the Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa.^2 He is called an Āṅgirasa in the
Aitareya Brāhmaṇa, ^3 which credits him with the authorship of
a Rigvedic hymn.^4 The Anukramaṇī (Index) ascribes to him
several other hymns.^5
