Thinking them to be fire particles, they collected them and began to blow air to brighten them into fire. A sparrow which was observing this fruitless effort, tried to convince the monkeys stating that they were Gunja fruits and not the fire sparks. At this the monkeys were enraged and killed the sparrow in the fury. Citing this example, the maxim conveys that giving advice to the foolish is dangerous and ultimately ends in death.
