Sāyakāyana (‘descendant of Sāyaka’) is the patronymic of
Śyāparṇa in the Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa, ^1 and also of a teacher, a
pupil of Kauśikāyani in the second Vaṃśa (list of teachers) in
the Bṛhadāraṇyaka Upaniṣad.^2
