Sahasracitya^1, a prince. § 767 (Ānuśāsanik.): XIII, 137, 6264 (attained to excellent regions by sacrificing his life for the sake of a brahman). Cf. next and Sahasrajit^1.
Sahasracitya^2, a Kaikeya king. § 787 (Āśramavāsap.): Nārada said: The Kekaya king S. was the grandfather of Śatayūpa, resigning his kingdom to his eldest son, he retired into the woods and after great penances attained to the region of Indra (Purandarasya), where I have often seen him: XV, 20, 543 (Kekayādhipatiḥ…Śatayāpapitāmahaḥ), 544.

सहस्रचित्य / SAHASRACITYA. Grandfather of King śatayūpa. sahasracitya was King of kekaya. A very righteous person, he abdicated the throne in favour of his elder brother's son and performed tapas in the forest. He gave up his body for a brahmin and attained heaven. (anuśāsana parva, Chapter 127, Verse 20
āśramavāsika parva, Chapter 20, Verse 6).
