Sanskritसमूहालम्बन समूहमालम्बते विषयतया आ + लयि-ल्यु । नानाप्रकारतानिरूपितनानाविशेष्यताशालिनिज्ञाने । तत्र संशये नानाप्रकारतानिरूपिताया एकवि-शेष्यतायाः सत्त्वात् न समूहालम्बनत्वम् । धवखदिरौद्वावित्यादौ दण्डी कुण्डी च देवदत्त इत्यादौ वाक्यज-नितबाधस्यापि समूहालम्बनत्वं तत्रोभयनिंरूपितयोःविशेष्यतयोर्द्वयोरेवाङ्गोकारात् द्वन्द्वात्परश्रूयमाणशब्दस्यप्रत्येकान्वयनियमेन प्रथमार्थद्वित्वस्म प्रत्येकवृत्तित्वात्तच्च समवायेनैवेति बोध्यम् । अतएव शब्दचिन्तामणौमणिकृता धवखदिरपलाशांश्छिनत्तोत्यादौ प्रत्येककर्मतायाएव विभिन्नक्रियायावन्वय इत्युक्तम् । अत उक्तस्थलेविशेष्यताद्वयम् । धवखदिरौ द्वावित्यादावपि द्वित्वस्य समवायसम्बन्धेन धवादिवृत्तित्वात् विशेष्यताद्वयाङ्गीकारेऽपिनक्षत्यभावात् । तेनैव धवखदिरौ न द्वाविति प्रतीतिवा-रणसम्भवात् । घटं पटञ्च पश्यतीत्यादौ च दर्शनक्रियायांघटपटयोरन्वयसम्भवे तु न समूहालम्बनमिति भेदःइत्यादिबोध्यम् । यदि च आत्मघटयोर्नात्मत्वमित्यादिप्रयोगसाधुत्वार्थं पर्य्याप्तिसम्बन्धेनैव द्वित्वादेर्वोघोऽङ्गी-क्रियते तदा तस्य न समूहालम्बनत्वम् ।
