Sanaka occurs as the name of one of the two Kāpyas (the
other being Navaka) who took part in the sacrifice of the
Vibhindukīyas, which is mentioned in the Jaiminīya Brāh-
maṇa.^1 Ludwig^2 thinks that the Sanakas are referred to as
non-sacrificers in one passage of the Rigveda, ^3 but this is very
doubtful.^4

 विष्णुपारिषभेदः । इति शब्दरत्ना-वली ॥
स तु ब्रह्मणश्चतुष्पुत्त्रान्तर्गतपुत्त्रविशेषः ।यथा, --“दृष्ट्वा पापीयसीं सृष्टिं नात्मानं बह्वमन्यत ।भगवद्ध्यानपूतेन मनसान्यांस्ततोऽसृजत् ॥
सनकञ्च सनन्दञ्च सनातनमथात्मभूः ।सनत्कुमारञ्च मुनीन् निष्क्रयानूर्द्ध्वरेतसः ॥
तान् बभाषे स्वभूः पुत्त्रान् प्रजाः सृजत पुत्त्रकाःतन्नैच्छन्मोक्षधर्म्माणो वासुदेवपरायणाः ॥
”इति श्रीभागवते ३ स्कन्धे १२ अध्यायः ॥
तस्य वासस्थानं जनलोकः । इति काशीखण्डम् ॥
