 (षड्भ्यः स्थानेभ्यः जायते इति ।जन + डः ।) तन्त्रीकण्ठोत्थितस्वरविशेषः ।इत्यमरः ॥
अस्य व्युत्पत्तिर्यथा, --“नासां कण्ठमुरस्तालु जिह्वां दन्तांश्च संश्रितः ।षड्भ्यः संजायते यस्मात् तस्मात् षड्ज इतिस्मृतः ॥
”स च मयूरस्वरतुल्यस्वरः । यथा, --“षड्जं रौति मयूरो हि गावो नर्द्दन्तिचर्षभम् ।अजा विरौतिगान्धारं क्लौञ्चो नदति मध्यमम् ॥
”इति भरतः ॥
(अस्मिन् चतस्रः श्रुतयो वसन्ति । यथा, सङ्गीत-दपणे । ५३ ।‘तीव्रा कुमुद्वती मन्दा छन्दोवत्यस्तु षड्जगाः ॥
’)तानसेनमते सप्तस्वराणां मध्ये प्रथमस्वरोऽयम् ।स्वरज् इति लोके ख्यातः । अस्योच्चारणस्थानंकण्ठः । अयं विप्रवर्णः । अस्यार्च्चिकं नाम ।अर्थात् एकस्वरमिलितः । सर्व्वस्वरापेक्षयाक्षुद्रस्वरोऽयम् । अस्य ताल एकः । अस्याष्टौभेदा भवन्ति । इति सङ्गीतशास्त्रम् ॥
