श्रीहर्ष The reputed author of the Naiṣadhacarita and of {7} or {8} other works. He is generally placed in the latter half of the 12th century. (Wilson says that Śrīharṣa succeeded his father Kalaśa in 1113, and that the Ratnāvalī, a play ascribed to the king, must have been written by him between 1113 and 1125 the close of his reign. But the Ratnāvalī must be regarded as a work of an earlier date as it is largely quoted in the Daśarūpa, a work of the last part of the 10th century).

यह नैषधचरित का प्रसिद्ध रचयिता है।इसके अतिरिक्त इसकी अन्य आठ दस रचनाएँ भी मिलती है।इसे प्रायः बारहवीं शताब्दी के उतरार्ध में हुआ मानते है।विल्सन कहता है कि १२१३ ई० में अपने पिता कलश के पश्चात् श्रीहर्ष राजगद्दी पर बैठा।अतः रत्नावली नाटिका जो इस राजा द्वारा लिखित मानी जाती है अवश्य अपने राज्य काल के अन्त में १११३ से ११२५ के मध्य लिखी गई होगी।परन्तु ‘रत्नावली’ को इसके पूर्व का ही मानना पड़ेगा क्योंकि दशरुपमें इसके अनेक उद्धरण उपलब्ध है।और दशरुप दशवीं शताब्दी के अन्तिम भाग में रचा गया।
