 शाक्यवंशावतीर्णबुद्धमुनिविशेषः ।इत्यमरः ॥
अस्य सप्त पर्य्याया गोतमशब्देद्रष्टव्याः । पर्य्यायान्तरं यथा । खजित् २ श्वेत-केतुः ३ धर्म्मकेतुः ४ महामुनिः ५ पञ्च-ज्ञानः ६ सर्व्वदर्शी ७ महाबोधिः ८ महाबलः ९बहुक्षमः १० त्रिमूर्त्तिः ११ सिद्धार्थः १२शकः १३ । इति शब्दरत्नावली ॥
शाक्यवंश-त्वात् शाक्यः शाक्यश्चासौ मुनिश्चेति शाक्य-मुनिः । तथा हि शाको वृक्षविशेषः तत्र भवाविद्यमानाः शाक्याः । पितुः शापेन केचिदिक्ष्वा-कुवंश्या गौतमवंशजकपिलमुनेराश्रमे शाक-वृक्षे कृतवासाश्च शाक्या उच्यन्ते । तदुक्तम् ।“शाकवृक्षप्रतिच्छन्नं वासं यस्मात् प्रचक्रिरे ।तस्मादिक्ष्वाकुवंश्यास्ते भुवि शाक्या इतिश्रुताः ॥
