शंखिनी 1 A woman of one of the four classes into which writers on erotic science divide women
the Ratimañjarī thus describes her:
दीर्घातिदीर्घनयना वरसुंदरी या कामोपभोगरसिका गुणशीलयुक्ता रेखात्रयेण विभूषितकंठदेशा सभोगकेलिर संका किल शंखिनी सा cf. चित्रिणी, हस्तिनी, and पद्मिनी also.
