Sanskrit
वेदाभ्यासः,
पुं,
 (वेदस्य अभ्यासः ।) वेदानुशील-नम् । स च पञ्चविधः । यथा, दक्षः ।“द्वितीये च तथा भागे वेदाभ्यासो विधीयते ।वेदाभ्यासो हि विप्राणां परमं तप उच्यते ॥
ब्रह्मयज्ञपरं ज्ञेयः षडङ्गसहितश्च यः ।वेदस्वीकरणं पूर्व्वं विचारोऽभ्यसनं जपः ।तद्दानञ्चैव शिष्येभ्यो वेदाभ्यासो हि पञ्चधा ॥
शङ्खलिखितौ । न वेदमनधीत्यान्यां विद्यामधी-यीतान्यत्र वेदाङ्गस्मृतिभ्यः ॥
” इत्याह्रिकतत्त्वम् ॥
