Vi-moktṛ in the list of victims at the Puruṣamedha^1
(‘human sacrifice’) denotes one who unharnesses horses from
the chariot, as opposed to Yoktṛ, ‘one who yokes.’ The
corresponding verbal noun Vimocana, ‘unyoking, is often
found.^2
