 Vidīgaya is the name of an animal in the Taittirīya Saṃ-
hitā^1 and the Taittirīya Brāhmaṇa.^2 The commentary on the
former takes it as a kind of cock (kukkuṭa-viśeṣa),  that on the
latter as a white heron (śveta-baka).
