ferior daughter's husband, defective son-in-law (ex-
plained by Yāska as ‘one who has not all the neces-
sary qualifications, ’ see Nirukta VI. 9, where it is also
said that the people of the south always speak of
this word as denoting ‘a man who has purchased his
wife’).
