”इति पठन्ति । इह त्वभेदात् पर्य्यायता । इतिभरतः ॥

 शिक्कनिका । चर्म्मरज्वादि । मुष्टि-दार्ढ्यार्थं उपर्य्यधो लौहबन्धः । इत्येके । इत्यपिभरतः ॥

 उपनयन-काले धारणीयमुञ्जनिर्म्मितसूत्रत्रयम् । यथा ।अथैनं माणवकमाचार्य्यस्त्रिः प्रदक्षिणं त्रिवृत्त-मुञ्जमेखलां परिधापयन् मन्त्रद्वयं वाचयति ।इति भवदेवभट्टः ॥
 अपि च । गोभिलः । मुञ्ज-काशतासून्यो रसनाः । मुञ्जः शरः । तासूनःशणस्तद्भवा तासूनी । रसना मेखला । तथा चमनुः ।“मौञ्जी त्रिवृत्समा श्लक्ष्णा कार्य्या विप्रस्यमेखला ।क्षत्त्रियस्य च मौर्व्वीया वैश्यस्य शणतान्तवी ॥
मुञ्जालाभे तु कर्त्तव्या कुशाश्मन्तकवल्वजैः ।त्रिवृता ग्रन्थिनैकेन त्रिभिः पञ्चभिरेव वा ॥
”इति संस्कारतत्त्वम् ॥
अन्यच्च ।“गर्भाष्टमेऽष्टमे वाब्दे स्वसूत्रोक्तविधानतः ।दण्डी च मेखली सूत्री कृष्णाजिनधरो मुनिः ॥
मौञ्जी त्रिवृत्समा श्लक्ष्णा कार्य्या विप्रस्यमेखला ।मौञ्ज्यभावे कुशेनाहुर्ग्रन्थिनैकेन च त्रिभिः ॥
”इति कौर्म्म्ये उपविभागे ११ अध्यायः ॥
होमकुण्डोपरिमृद्घटितवेष्टनविशेषः । यथा, वशिष्ठपञ्चरात्रे ।“यावान् कुण्डस्य विस्तारः खननं तावदिष्यते ।हस्तैके मेखलास्तिस्रो वेदाग्निनयनाङ्गुलाः ॥
कुण्डे द्विहस्ते ता ज्ञेया रसवेदगुणाङ्गुलाः ।चतुर्हस्ते तु कुण्डे ता वसुतर्कयुगाङ्गुलाः ॥
”मेखला ब्रह्मचारिमेखलावत् कुण्डवेष्टिता मृद्-घटिता ताश्च खातदेशाद्बाह्ये एकाङ्गुलिरूपंकण्ठं परित्यज्य उच्छ्रायेण विस्तारेण चेत्यादिक्रमेण वेदाद्यङ्गुलाः एतद्विपरीतास्तन्त्रान्तरोक्ताव्यवहारविरुद्धाः । वेदाश्चत्वारः अग्नयस्त्रयःनयने द्वे रसाः षट् गुणास्त्रयः । वसुतर्कयुगानिअष्टषट्चत्वारि । पिङ्गलामतेऽपि । खाता-देकाङ्गुलं त्यक्त्वा मेखलानां विधिर्भवेत् । इतितिथ्यादितत्त्वे दुर्गोत्सवतत्त्वम् ॥
 (यज्ञवेष्टन-सूत्रम् । यथा,  श्रीमद्भागवते । ४ । ५ । १५ ।“रुरुजुर्यज्ञपात्राणि तथैकेऽग्नीननाशयन् ।कुण्डेष्वमूत्रयन् केचिद्विभिदुर्वेदिमेखलाः ॥
”“मेखलाः सीमासूत्राणि ।” इति तट्टीकायांश्रीधरस्वामी ॥
