माकन्दी / MĀKANDĪ. A city of the King drupada. This city was on the banks of the river gaṅgā. (Śloka 73, Chapter 137. Ādi Parva). See under kapaṭabhikṣu.

 (माकन्द + ङीष् ।) आमलकी ।नगरभेदः । इति मेदिनी । दे, ३८ ॥
(यथा, महाभारते । ५ । ७२ । १५ ।“-- पञ्चग्रामा वृता मया ।अविस्थलं वृकस्थलं माकन्दीं वारणावतम् ।अवसानञ्च गोविन्द ! कञ्चिदेवात्र पञ्चमम् ॥
