महर्लोक / MAHARLOKA. A world which was believed by the ancient people to be situated one crore yojanas above the “Dhruvapada”. viṣṇu purāṇa, Part II, Chapter 7 says that it is there that sages like bhṛgu live till the end of kalpa.

महर्लोकः,
पुं,
 (महश्चासौ लोकश्चेति । कर्म्म-धारयः ।) भूरादिसप्तलोकान्तर्गतचतुर्थलोकः ।यथा, --“भूर्भुवः स्वर्म्महश्चैव जनश्च तप एव च ।सत्यलोकश्च सप्तैते लोकास्तु परिकीर्त्तिताः ॥
चतुर्मुखदिनस्यान्ते जगदेतच्चराचरम् ॥
तदा हि दह्यते सर्व्वं त्रैलोक्यं भूर्भुवादिकम् ।जनं प्रयान्ति तापार्त्ता महर्लोकनिवासिनः ॥
”इति वह्निपुराणम् ॥
“चतुर्थे तु महर्लोके तिष्ठन्ते कल्पवासिनः ॥
”इति देवीपुराणम् ॥
