"तत्पुरुष समास का एक अवान्तर भेद जिसमें कि रचना के बीच का शब्द लुप्त कर दिया जाता हैं इसका सामान्य उदाहरण ‘शाकपार्थिवः’ है, इसका विग्रह हैं-शाकप्रियः पार्थिवः, यहाँ बीच के शब्द ‘प्रिय’ का लोप कर दिया गया हैं इसी प्रकार छायातरुः व गुडधानाः आदि शब्द हैं"
