Englishम / MA. This letter has the following three meanings-Prosperity, honour and mother. (agni purāṇa, Chapter 348).
शब्दकल्पद्रुमः
Sanskritम मकारः । स तु पञ्चविंशतितमव्यञ्जनवर्णः ।अस्योच्चारणस्थानमोष्ठः । इति व्याकरणम् ॥
(“उपूपध्मानीयानामोष्ठौ ।” इति सिद्धान्त-कौमुदी ॥
) अस्य स्वरूपं यथा, --“मकारं शृणु चार्व्वङ्गि ! स्वयं परमकुण्डली ।तरुणादित्यसङ्काशं चतुर्व्वर्गप्रदायकम् ॥
पञ्चदेवमयं वर्णं पञ्चप्राणमयं सदा ।”इति कामधेनुतन्त्रम् ॥
(वङ्गीयाक्षरैः) अस्य लेखनप्रकारः । यथा, --“ऊर्द्ध्वाधःक्रमतो रेखा वामे वक्रा तु कुण्डली ।पुनश्चाधोगता सैव तत ऊर्द्ध्वगता पुनः ।ब्रह्मा शम्भुश्च विष्णुश्च क्रमशस्तासु तिष्ठति ॥
”अस्य ध्यानं यथा, --“कृष्णां दशभुजां भीमां पीतलोहितलोचनाम् ।कृष्णाम्बरधरां नित्यां धर्म्मकामार्थमोक्षदाम् ।एवं ध्यात्वा मकारन्तु तन्मन्त्रं दशधा जपेत् ॥
”तत्प्रणाममन्त्रो यथा, --“त्रिशक्तिसहितं वर्णं त्रिबिन्दुसहितं सदा ।आत्मादितत्त्वसंयुक्तं हृदिस्थं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥
”इति वर्णोद्धारतन्त्रम् ॥
तस्य नामानि ।“मः काली क्लेशितः काला महाकालोमहान्तकः ।वैकुण्ठो वसुधा चन्द्री रविः पुरुषराजकः ॥
कालभद्रो जया मेधा विश्वदा दीप्तसंज्ञकः ।जठरञ्च भ्रमा मानं लक्ष्मीर्मातोग्रबन्धनौ ॥
विषं शिवो महावीरः शशिप्रभा जनेश्वरः ।प्रमत्तः प्रियसू रुद्रः सर्व्वाङ्गो वह्निमण्डलम् ।मातङ्गमालिनी बिन्दुः श्रवणा भरथोवियत् ॥
