भुग्न  name of a Saṁdhi or coalescence given by the writers of the Prātiśākhya works where the diphthong vowels ओ and औ,  followed by any vowel which is not labial,  are turned respectively into अव् and आव्: e.g. ऋतेन मित्रावरुणावृतावृधावृतस्पृशा (Ṛ. Saṁh.I.2.8)
