  प्र + मा--भावे कैरणे वा ल्युट् । १ प्रमारूपज्ञाने२ विष्णौ “प्रमाणं प्राणनिलयः” विष्णुस० । प्रमार्ण“प्रज्ञानं ब्रह्मेति” श्रुतेस्तस्य ज्ञानरूपत्वात् तथात्वम् “प्र-माणं बीजमव्ययम्” विष्णु स० प्रत्यक्षादिप्रमाणरूपत्त्वात्तस्यतथात्वं व्यत्पत्तिद्वययोगात् नामद्वयम् । ३ सत्यवादनि४ इयत्तायां परिच्छेदे ५ हेतौ ६ प्रमातरि च मेदि० ।७ प्रमितिकरणे चक्षरादौ “यस्येप्साजिहासाप्रयुक्तस्यप्रवृत्तिः स प्रमाता स येनार्थं प्रमिणोति तत्प्रमाणम्”वात्स्या० “तच्च साधनाश्रयव्यतिरिक्तत्वे सति प्रमाव्याप्तंप्रमाणमिति” सर्वद० अक्षपाददर्शने । “तद्वति तत्प्रकार-कत्वरूपप्रकर्षविशिष्टज्ञानकरणत्वम्” गौ० वृ० । “अनुभव-त्वव्याप्यजात्यवच्छिन्नप्रमावृत्तिकार्य्य तानिरूपितकारणता-शालित्वे सति व्यापारवत्त्वम् तत्त्वम्” तर्कप्रकाशे शिति-कण्ठः । प्रमाणत्वं च अनधिगतार्थकानुभवकारणत्वम् ।तच्च गृहीतग्राहीतरानुभवकारणत्वम् । स्वसमानाधि-करणस्वाव्यवहितपूर्ववर्त्तिस्वसमानाकारनिश्चयविषयविषय-केतरतद्वद्विशेष्यकतत्प्रकारकानुभवकारणत्वमिति या-वत् न्यायकुसुमाञ्जलिटी० । “यज्जातीयविशिष्टज्ञानत्वा-वच्छेदेन समानाकारनिश्चयोत्तरत्वं तज्जातीयान्ययथा-र्थज्ञानस्यैवागृहीतग्राहित्वेन प्रमात्वात् अतएव धारा-वाहिप्रत्यक्षव्यक्तीनां समानाकारग्रहोत्तरवर्त्तित्वेऽपिन तासां प्रमात्वहानिः हानिस्तु समानाकारानुभवसमु-त्थानां स्मृतीनामिति” शब्द० प्र० । न्यायनय चत्वारि-प्रमाणानि । प्रत्यक्षम् । अनुमानम् । उपमानम् । शब्दःगौ० सू० प्रकारान्तरेण प्रमाणं द्विविधम् “शब्दोपजीविशब्दानुपजीवि” कुसुमाञ्जलिटी० । प्रत्यक्षमेकमेव प्रमा-णमिति चार्वाकाः सङ्गिरन्ते । प्रत्यक्षमनुमानं चेति द्वेप्रमाणे इति बैशेषिका बौद्धा आर्हताश्च । प्रत्यक्षं शब्दश्चेतिद्वे प्रमाणे इति श्रीमदानन्दतीर्थभगवत्पादाचार्य्याः । प्र-त्यक्षमनुभानमाप्तवचनमिति त्रीणि प्रमाणानीति सांख्यावेदान्तिनश्च । प्रत्यक्षानुमानोपमानानि त्रीणीति नैया-यिकैकदेशिनः । प्रत्यक्षानुमानीपमानशब्दा अर्थापत्तिश्चेतिपञ्च प्रमाणानीति प्राभाकराः । प्रत्यक्षानुमानोपमानशब्दाअर्थापत्तिरनुपलब्धिश्चेति षट्प्रमाणानीत्यपरे भाट्टावेदा-न्तिभेदाश्च । सम्भवैतिह्ये अप्यतिरिक्ते प्रमाणे इति पौ-राणिकाः । चेष्टाप्यतिरिक्तं प्रमाणामित तान्त्रिकाः ।तत्र सांख्यपातञ्जलवेदान्तिमते अन्तःकरणवृत्तीनां पौरु-षेयचित्तवृत्तिप्रकाशरूपबोधे करणत्वम् अन्तःकरण-वृत्तिषु च ज्ञानत्वारोपेण तत्करणत्वमिन्द्रियाणामितिभेदः । यथोक्तं सां० प्र० भा० “प्रमाता चेतनः शुद्धः प्रमाणंवृत्तिरेव नः । प्रमाऽर्थाकारवृत्तीनां चेतने प्रतिबिम्बनम् ।प्रतिबिम्बितवृत्तीनां विषयो मेय उच्यते । साक्षाद्द-र्शनरूपं च साक्षित्वं वक्ष्यति स्वयम् । अतः स्यात् कार-णाभावाद्वृत्तेः साक्ष्येव चेतनः । विष्ण्वादेः सर्वसाक्षित्वंगौणं लिङ्गाद्यभावतः” । “प्रमाणविपर्य्ययविकल्पनिद्राःस्मृतयः” पात० सू० “इन्द्रियप्रणालिकया चित्तस्य बाह्य-वस्तूपरागात् तद्विषयसामान्यविशेषात्मनोऽर्थस्य विशेषाव-धारणं प्रधाना वृत्तिः प्रत्यक्षं प्रमाणं,  फलमविशिष्टः पौ-रुषेयश्चित्तवृत्तिबोधः” भाष्यम् “अनधिगततत्त्वबोधःपौरुषेयो व्यवहारहेतुः प्रमा तत्करणं प्रमाणम् ।ननु पुरुषवर्त्ती बोधः कथं चित्तगतायावृत्तेः फलं न हिखदिरगोचरव्यापारेण परशुना पलाशे छिदा क्रियतेइत्यत आह अविशिष्ट इति । न हि पुरुषगतो बोधोजन्यते अपि तु चैतन्यमेव बुद्धिदर्पर्णप्रतिबिम्बितं बुद्धि-वृत्त्या अर्थाकारया तदाकारतामापाद्यमानं फलम् ।तच्च तथाभूतं बुद्धेरविशिष्टं बुद्ध्यात्मिका वृत्तिः वृत्तिश्चबुद्ध्यात्मिकेति सामानाधिकरण्याद्युक्तः प्रमाणफलभावइत्यर्थः” विव० । प्रमाणस्य भावः ष्यञ् प्रामाण्य न०
