पौण्ड्रक १ / PAUṆḌRAKA I. A son of nikumbha. When during the rāma-rāvaṇa battle nikumbha died, his son pauṇḍraka took up the fight against rāma and was killed. (ānanda rāmāyaṇa).
पौण्ड्रक २ / PAUṆḌRAKA II. (Pauṇḍrakavāsudeva). A king of ancient kārūṣa. Once he sent a messenger to dvārakā and told kṛṣṇa thus: “Oh kṛṣṇa, I am the real vāsudeva. Therefore put down all your royal emblems and robes and come and worship at my feet.” As soon as kṛṣṇa heard it he got angry and moved to kārūṣa with a large army and killed Pauṇḍrakavāsudeva. 10th skandha, bhāgavata).
पौण्ड्रक ३ / PAUṆḌRAKA III. The name of the buffalo which is the vehicle of yama (Chapter 9, vāmana Purāna).

 (पौण्ड्र एव । स्वार्थे कन् ।) इक्षु-भेदः । पुँडि आक् इति भाषा । (यथा, --“पौण्ड्रको भीरुकश्चैव वंशकः शतपोरकः ।कातारस्तापसेक्षुश्च काष्ठेक्षुः सूचिपत्रकः ॥
नैपालो दीर्घपत्रश्च नीलपोरोऽथ कोशकृत् ।इत्येता जातयः स्थौल्याद्गुणान् वक्ष्याम्यतः-परम् ॥
”इति सुश्रुते सूत्रस्थाने १५ अध्याये ॥
)अस्य गुणाः । शीतलत्वम् । वृष्यत्वम् । स्निग्ध-त्वम् । मधुरत्वम् । बृहणत्वञ्च । इति राजवल्लभः ॥
(गुणान्तरमस्य यथा, --“वातपित्तप्रशमनो मधुरो रसपाकयोः ।सुशीतो बृंहणो बल्यः पौण्ड्रको भीरुकस्तथा ॥
”इति भावप्रकाशस्य पूर्व्वखण्डे द्वितीये भागे ॥
पौण्ड्रदेशीयनृपः । यथा, महाभारते । २ । ३४ । १० ।“पौण्ड्रको वासुदेवश्च वङ्गः कालिङ्गकस्तथा ॥
