Pṛṣṭy-āmaya denotes in the Atharvaveda^1 a pain in the sides
or ribs.^2 It appears to be mentioned there merely as an
accompaniment of fever (Takman).

2) The derivative adjective Pṛṇṭy-
āmayin, ‘suffering from a pain in the
side, occurs in Rv. i. 105, 18.
