Sanskritनिग्रहस्थान नौतमोक्ते वादिनोनिग्रहास्पदे वाक्यभेदेतल्लक्षणं यथा“विप्रतिपत्तिरप्रतिपत्तिश्च निग्रहस्थानम्” गौ० सू०“क्रमप्राप्तं निग्रहस्थानम् लक्षयति । निग्रहस्यखलीकारस्य स्थानं तच्च विप्रतिपत्तिरप्रतिपत्तिश्च विप्रति-पत्तिर्विरुद्धा प्रतिपत्तिरप्रतिपत्तिः प्रकृताज्ञानं यद्यप्ये-तदन्यतरत् परनिष्ठं नोद्भावयितुमर्हं प्रतिज्ञाहान्यादे-र्निग्रहस्थानत्वानुपपत्तिश्च तथापि विप्रतिपत्त्यप्रतिपत्त्य-न्यतरोन्नायकधर्मवत्त्वं तदर्थः उद्देश्यानुगुणसम्यग्ज्ञाना-मावलिङ्गत्वं प्रतिज्ञाहान्याद्यन्यतमत्वं वा लक्षणमि-त्यपि वदन्ति” वृत्तिः । निग्रहस्थानानि द्वाविंशतिः यथा“प्रतिज्ञाहानिः १ प्रतिज्ञान्तरम् २ प्रतिज्ञाविरोघः ३ प्र-तिज्ञासन्न्यासो ४ हेत्वन्वर ५ मर्थान्तरं ६ निरर्थक ७ मविज्ञा-तार्थ ८ मपार्थक ९ मप्राप्तकालं १० न्यून ११ मधिकं १२ पुनरुक्त-१३ मननुभाषण १४ मज्ञानम १५ ऽप्रतिभा १६ विक्षेपो १७ मता-नुज्ञा १८ पर्य्यनुयोज्योपेक्षणं १९ निरनुयोज्यानुयोगो २०ऽ-पसिद्धान्तो २१ हेत्वाभासाश्च २२ गौ० मु० उक्तानि ।
