English
जयादित्य one of the famous joint authors ( जयादित्य and वामन ) of the well-known gloss ( वृत्ति ) on the Sutras of Panini, popularly called काशिकावृत्ति. As the काशिकावृत्ति is men- tioned by It-sing, who has also mentioned Bhartrhari's Vakya- padiya, as a grammer treatise Written some 40 years before his visit, the time of काशिकावृत्ति is fixed as the middle of the 7th century A.D. Some scholars believe that जयादित्य was the same as जयापीड a king of Kasmira and बामन was his minister. For details, see pp. 386- 388 of the Vyakarana Mahabhasya Vol. VII published by the D.E. Society, Poona. See काशिका.
