शब्दकल्पद्रुमः
Sanskritजनस्थानं, (जनस्य स्थानं भूभागः ।) दण्ड-कारण्यम् । इति जटाधरः ॥
दण्डकारण्य-समीपस्थानविशेषः । यथा । इक्ष्वाकुराजपुत्त्रोदण्डः शुक्राचार्य्यकन्यामरजां बलाद्गृहीत्वामैथुनं कृतवान् स मुनिस्तत् श्रुत्वा राजानंशशाप । यथा, --“सप्तरात्रेण राजासौ सभृत्यबलवाहनः ।पापकर्म्मसमाचारो वधं प्राप्स्यति दुर्म्मतिः ॥
सर्व्वसत्त्वानि यानीह जङ्गमानि स्थिराणि च ।सर्व्वेषां पांशुवर्षेण क्षयः क्षिप्रं भविष्यति ॥
दण्डस्य विषयो यावत् तावत् सवनमाश्रमम् ।पांशुभूतमिवाकस्मात् सप्तरात्राद्भविष्यति ॥
इत्युक्त्रा क्रोधसन्तप्तस्तदाश्रमनिवासिनम् ।जनं जनपदस्यान्ते स्थीयतामित्यवोचत ॥
सप्ताहाद्भस्मसाद्भूतः स चापि ब्रह्मतेजसा ।तस्य दण्डस्य विषयो विन्ध्यशैलस्य सानुषु ॥
तदाप्रभृति काकुत्स्थ ! दण्डकारण्यमुच्यते ।तपस्विनः स्थिता यत्र तज्जनस्थानमुच्यते ॥
