Gau-ṣūkti is the name of a pupil of Iṣa Śyāvāśvi according
to the Jaiminīya Upaniṣad Brāhmaṇa^1 in a Vaṃśa (list of
teachers). It is also the name, in the Pañcaviṃśa Brāhmaṇa, ^2
of a teacher who appears to have been needlessly invented to
explain the Gauṣūkta Sāman (chant), which is really the Sāman
of Goṣūktin.
