पुं,
 (गलं कण्ठं गृह्णाति मत्स्यास्थ्नाइति । ग्रह् + अच् । यद्वा गलः मत्स्य-कण्ठो गृह्यतेऽस्मिन् । ग्रह् + अधिकरणे अप् ।)व्यञ्जनविशेषः । तत्पर्य्यायः । मत्स्यघण्टः २ ।इति शब्दचन्द्रिका ॥
तिथिविशेषः । यथा, --“कृष्णपक्षे चतुर्थी च सप्तम्यादिदिनत्रयम् ।त्रयोदशीचतुष्कञ्च अष्टावेते गलग्रहाः ॥
”इति मदनरत्ने नारदः ॥
अपि च ।“आरम्भानन्तरं यत्र प्रत्यारम्भो न विद्यते ।गर्गादिमुनयः सर्व्वे तमेवाहुर्गलग्रहम् ॥
”इति राजमार्त्तण्डः ॥
(रोगविशेषः । यथा, सुशुते सूत्रस्थाने ४५अध्याये ।“पार्श्वशूले प्रतिश्याये वातरोगे गलग्रहे ॥
”“यस्य श्लेष्मा प्रकुपितस्तिष्ठत्यन्तर्गले स्थिरः ।आशु सञ्जनयेच्छोथं जायतेऽस्य गलग्रहः ॥
”इति चरके सूत्रस्थानेऽष्टादशेऽध्याये ॥
गलग्रहरोगवत् परित्यागाशक्यत्वात् पीडा-दायकत्वाच्च लक्षणाशक्त्या पोष्यात्मीयजनोऽपिबोध्यते । यथा, स एव मे गलग्रहः । इतिलोकप्रसिद्धिः ॥
