Sanskritखञ्ज खजि गतिवैकल्ये अच् । (खोंडा) एकपाद-विलले । तस्य लक्षणादिकं भावप्र० उक्तं यथा “वायुःकट्याश्रितः सकथ्नः कण्डरामाक्षिपेत् यदा । खञ्जस्तदाभवेज्जन्तुः पङ्गुः सक्थ्नोर्द्वयोर्बवात् । सक्थ्नः कट्यादि-गुल्फस्य, कण्डरां कक्षास्नायुम् आक्षिपेत् गमनादौकम्पयेत् । बधात् गमनादिक्रियाघातात्” । तथाच एक-पादविकलत्वे खञ्जः द्विपादविकलत्वे पङ्कुरिति भेदः ।तस्यैव भेदः कलापखञ्जः तल्लक्षणं तत्रोक्तं यथा “कम्पतेगमनारम्भे खञ्जन्निव चलक्ष्यते । कलापखञ्जन्तं विद्या-न्मुक्तसन्धिप्रबन्धनम् । गमनारम्भे कम्पते । एतस्यखञ्जादयमेव भेदः कलापखञ्ज इति शास्त्रे रूढा संज्ञा नतु यौगिकी” । तस्य कर्मविशेषविपाकत्वम् शातातपेनोक्तंयथा “हरिणे निहते खञ्जः शृगाले तु विपादकः” ।विपादकः पादद्वयगतिशून्यः पङ्गुरित्यर्थः । “काणं वाप्यथवा खञ्जमन्यं वापि तथाविधम् । तथ्येनापि शपन् दाप्यो-दण्डं कार्षापणावरम्” मनुः तस्य दैवपैत्रकर्मकरणकाले-ऽपसार्य्यतामाह” मनुः “खञ्जो वा यदि काणोदातुःप्रेष्योऽपि वा भेवत् । हीनातिरिक्तगात्रो वा तमप्यप-नयेत्ततः” जन्मतः खञ्जत्वे सुश्रुतेन कारणमुक्तं यथा“दौहदविमाननाच्चकुब्जं कुणिं खञ्जं जडं वामनं विकृ-ताक्षमनक्षं वा नारी सुतं जनयति” । स्वार्थे क ण्वुल्वा । खञ्जक तत्रार्थे हेम० । अस्य कडारादिपाठात्वा पूर्वनिपातः खञ्जबाहुः कलापखञ्ज इत्यादि ।
