Sanskritकालपुरुषः (कालः कालचक्रं पुरुष इव ।) यम-सहायः । इति जटाधरः ॥
ज्योतिःशास्त्रम् । यथा“किन्त्वस्य कालपुरुषाख्यमहार्णवस्यगच्छेत् कदाचिदनृषिर्मनसापि पारम्” ॥
कालपुरुषः स चाख्या नाम यस्यासौ तस्यज्योतिःशास्त्रविस्तीर्णसमुद्रस्य । इति भट्टोत्पलः ॥

नराणां शुभाशुभज्ञानार्थं जन्मलग्नादिद्वादशरा-शिकल्पितपुरुषाकारः । यथा, --“शीर्षमुखबाहुहृदयोदराणिकटिवस्तिगुह्यसंज्ञ-कानि । ऊरूजानुकजङ्घेचरणाविति च राशयो-ऽजाद्याः” ॥
इति दीपिका ॥

नराणां शुभा-शुभज्ञानार्थं जन्मलग्नादिराशिद्रेक्काणघटितपुरु-षाकारः । यथा, “कं दृक्श्रोत्रनसाकपोलहनवोवक्त्रञ्च होरादयस्ते कण्ठांशकबाहुपार्श्वहृदयक्रो-डानिनाभिस्ततः । वस्तिः शिश्नगुदे ततश्च वृषणा-वूरूततो जानुनी जङ्क्षाङ्घ्री ह्युभयत्र वाममुदितै-र्द्रेक्काणभागैस्त्रिधा” ॥
इति “कालनरस्याङ्गेसद-सद्ग्रहयोगतः । पुंसामपि तदङ्गेषु शुभाशुभफलंवदेत्” ॥
