Kaṇikavākya(ṃ) (“the speech of Kaṇika”). § 212 (Sambhavap.). Dhṛtarāshṭra consulted the minister Kaṇika, who, after having expounded some very Machiavellian principles of policy, and told the fable of the jackal, the tiger, the mouse, the wolf, and the mongoose, concluded by advising him to destroy the Pāṇḍavas (I, 140).
