औद्दालक / AUDDĀLAKA. A holy place of ancient india. The place got this name because the sage uddālaka lived there. It is believed that if one bathes in this holy place one will be absolved of all his sins.

क्ली,
 (उद्दालेन कीटेन सञ्चितम् । उद्दाल-+ अण् + संज्ञायां कन् ।) वल्मीककारिकीट-निर्म्मितमधु ।तस्य गुणाः । कषायत्वम् । उष्णत्वम् । कटुत्वम् ।कुष्ठविषरोगनाशित्वञ्च । इति राजवल्लभः ॥
(अथौद्दालकस्य लक्षणं गुणाश्च यथा ।“प्रायो वल्मीकमध्यस्थाः कपिलाः स्वल्पकीटकाः ।कुर्व्वन्ति कपिलं स्वल्पं तत् स्यादौद्दालकं मधु ॥
औद्दालकं रुचिकरं स्वर्य्यं कुष्ठविषापहम् ।कषायमुष्णमम्लञ्च कटुपाकञ्च पित्तकृत्” ॥
इति भावप्रकाशस्य पूर्व्वखण्डे द्वितीये भागे ॥
तीर्थविशेषः । यदुक्तं महाभारते ३ । ८४ । १५१ ।“औद्द्वालकं महाराज तीर्थं मुनिनिषेवितम् ।तत्राभिषेकं कृत्वा वै सर्व्वपापैः प्रमुच्यते” ॥
