उत्तानपाद / UTTĀNAPĀDA. A King. He was the son of svāyambhuva manu,  the son of brahmā. svāyambhuva manu had two sons priyavrata and uttānapāda. (devī bhāgavata,  skandha 8). A son named uttama was born to uttānapāda by his wife suruci. uttānapāda had another wife called sunīti. (viṣṇu purāṇa,  aṁśa 1,  Chapter 11). See under dhruva.

  स्वायम्भुव मनोः पुत्रे ध्रुवपितरि १ नृपभेदे ।“वैराजात् पुरुषात् वीरं शतरूपा व्यजायत । प्रियव्रतो-त्तानपादौ वीरात् काम्या व्यजायत” हरि० २ अ० ।“स्वायम्भुवस्यापि मनोर्हरेरंशांशजन्मनः । प्रियव्रतोत्तान-पादौ शतरूपापतेः सुतौ । वासुदेवस्य कलना रक्षायांजगतः स्थितौ । जाये उत्तानपादस्य सुनीतिः मुरुचि-स्तथा । सुरुचिः प्रेयसी पत्युर्गेतरा यत्सुतोध्रुवः” भाग०४ स्क० ८ अ० इतौत्तरं तच्चरितं तत्र वर्णितम् । उत्तानउच्चस्थितः पादोऽस्य । १ परमेश्वरे पु०
