itthā́ [von íd], hebt den durch das Folgende ausgedrückten Begriff in dem Sinne hervor, dass dieser Begriff im vollen Sinne oder in vorzüglichem Grade gelten soll, und kann daher etwa durch die Worte: „wahrhaft, recht eigentlich, recht, so recht, gerade“ wiedergegeben werden. Am häufigsten erscheint es so bei Ausdrücken der Gottesverehrung (Andacht u. s. w.). Wenn es am Schlusse steht, hebt es den ganzen vorhergehenden Satz in gleichem Sinne hervor. Wo es ein Substantiv hervorhebt, kann es im Deutschen durch ein Adjectiv „wahrhaft, recht“ ausgedrückt werden. Ausserdem verbindet es sich gern mit bád (einmal mit ṛ́dhak und mit satyám) in der Bedeutung „fürwahr“.
