  आ + चर--ण्यत् । “उपनीय तु यः शिष्यंवेदमध्यापरेत् द्विजः । सकल्पं सरहस्यं च तमाचार्य्यंप्रचक्षते” इति मनक्तलक्षणे १ वेदाध्यापयितरि, “आम्नायतत्त्वविज्ञानाच्चराचरसमानतः । यमादियो-गसिद्धत्वादाचार्य्य इति कथ्यते” इत्युक्तलक्षणे २ मतप्र-स्थापके शङ्कराचार्य्यादौ च । स्त्रियां टाप् आचार्य्या ।आचार्य्यपत्न्यान्तु ङीष् आनुक् च आचार्य्यानी नणत्वम् । “अग्निहोत्री तपस्वी च वेदमध्यापायेच्चयः । सकल्पं सरहस्यं च तमाचार्य्यं प्रचक्षते” दक्षः“कस्मादाचार्य्य आचारं ग्राहयत्याचिनोत्यर्थान् आचिनोतिबुद्धिमिति वा” निरु० “आचार्य्यस्तु ते गतिं वक्तेति” छा०उप० “आचार्य्यात् पादमादत्ते पादं शिष्यः स्वमेधया ।कालेन पादमादत्ते पादं सब्रह्मचारिभिः” नीलकण्ठधृतास्मृतिः । क्रमेणाचार्य्यसच्छिष्यधर्म्मभ्रात्रे कतीर्थिनः”याज्ञ० । यज्ञादौ कर्मोपदेशके ३ गुरौ “आचार्य्यस्तुयथा स्वर्गे शक्रादीनां वृहस्पतिः तथा त्वं मम यज्ञेस्मिन्नाचार्य्यो भव सुव्रत! यथा शक्रस्य वागीश आचार्य्यःसर्व्वकर्म्म सु । तथा मया त्वमाचार्य्यः वृतोऽस्मिन् यज्ञक-र्म्मणि” इति विधानपारि० पुरा० । ४ पूज्यमात्रे त्रि०
