अभिह्वार Tatpur. m. (-रः) (ved. Probably.) Evil, misfor-
tune, sin
e. g. Atharv.: यो अस्य समिधं वेद क्षत्रियेण समा-
हिताम् नाभिह्वारे पदं नि दधाति मृत्यवे ‘he does
not put his foot into misfortune (or into sin which leads)
to death’. (Roth and Whitney in their edition of the
Atharv. write अभिह्वार
but the former gives in a quotation
of this passage in his Dictionary the form अभिह्वर which
seems less correct.) E. ह्वृ with अभि, kṛt aff. घञ्.
