in the intermediate region, in the region between heaven
and earth, an epithet of Indra (Sāyaṇa: अन्तरिक्षे वर्तमा-
नानामसुराणां जेता)
another interpretation of Sāyaṇa,
‘conquering for the sake of water (scil. Vṛtra)’, is less
probable, in the Ṛg-or Sāmav. verse: वज्रं च वृषणं भर-
त्समप्सुजित् (Sāy.: अप्सुजित् । उदकार्थं वृत्रस्य जेता यद्वा आप
इत्यन्तरिक्षनाम । अन्तरिक्षेऽहिनामकस्य जेता
