अन्त्यावसायिन् Tatpur. m. (-यी) A man of a degraded tribe,
the offspring of a Niṣādī woman by a Chāṇḍāla male. Ac-
cording to Angiras this term comprehends seven classes, viz.
चाण्डाल, श्वपच, क्षत्तृ, सूत, वैदेहक, मागध and आयोगव
qq. vv.
Vijnāneśvara applies it to Chāṇḍālas and men who
have become outcastes in general: ‘चाण्डालपतितादीनाम्’.
Comp. अन्तावसायिन् and अन्त्यज. E. अन्त्य and अवसायिन्
lit. ‘engaged in the lowest occupations’.

 स्त्री० “निषादस्त्री तु चण्डालात् पुत्त्र-मन्त्यावसायिनम् । श्मशानगोचरं सूते” इति मनूक्तेनिषादस्त्रियां चण्डालजाते (मुरदाफरास) इति ख्यातेसङ्कीर्णवर्णे स्त्रियां ङीप् । “चण्डालः श्वपचःक्षत्ता सूतोवैदेहकस्तथा । मागघायोगवौ चैव सप्तैतेऽन्त्यावसायिनः”इत्यङ्गिरसोक्तचाण्डादिषु च । “अन्त्यावसायिनामन्न-मश्नीयाद्यस्तु कामत” इति अङ्गिरःस्मृतिः ।
