अन्तर्वावत् I. Tatpur. m. f. n. (-वन्-वन्ती-वत्) (ved.) Con-
cealed, hidden
अन्तर्वावदकृणोज्ज्योतिषा तमः ‘he has hidden
darkness with light’. E. वा, in the intens., with अन्तर्,
kṛt aff. शतृ.
II. m. f. n. (-वान्-वती-वत्) (ved.) Endowed with trea-
sures or with sons, cattle &c. in its interior
अन्तर्वावत्क्षयं
दधे ‘he possesses a dwelling abounding internally with
treasures or with sons &c.’. E. अन्तर्वा, taddh. aff. मतुप्
Sāyaṇa explains अन्तर्वा as meaning liter. ‘going within,
being within, belonging to’ and thus assuming the sense of
treasure &c.
he makes it optional, however, to consider
in the latter instance अन्तर्वावत् as representing also अन्त-
र्वावद्, when the word would come from अन्तर् and वावद्
‘speaking much’ the intens. of वद्, kṛt aff. क्विप्, the
sense remaining the same, but the word being then a
Tatpurusha.
