Sanskritअनृण न ऋणं यस्य । ऋणशून्ये । ऋणञ्च अवश्यदेयम्तच्च उत्तमर्णाय दातव्यत्वेन स्वीकृतं धनम् । तच्चावश्यंशोध्यं तदशोधने “ऋणानामनपक्रियेत्युक्तेरुपपातकं भवति ।अवश्यशोध्यत्वेन तत्सदृशम् वेदाध्ययनादिकमपि ऋण-शब्देन व्यवह्रियते “जायमानो र्व पुरुषस्त्रिभिरृणै-रृणी भवति स्वाध्यायेन ऋषिभ्यः, यज्ञेन देवेभ्यः प्रजयापितृभ्य” इति श्रुतिः एवञ्च वेदाध्ययनादिना ऋष्यादीना-मृणशोधने अनृणो भवतीति स्मृत्यादौ प्रसिद्धम् । एवञ्च“ऋणानि त्रीण्यपाकृत्य मनो मोक्षे निवेशयेदिति” ऋण-शून्यस्यैव मोक्षाधिकारः । अतएव मनुना “दशलक्षणकं धर्म्म-मनुतिष्ठन् समाहितः । वेदान्तं विधिवच्छ्रुत्वा संन्यसेद-नृणी द्विज” इति अनृणस्यैव संन्यासोऽभिहितः । “ज्येष्ठेनजातमात्रेण पुत्री भवति मानवः । पितॄणामनृणश्चैव सतस्मात् सर्व्वमर्हतीति” मनुः । “एष वा अनृणः यः पुत्रीति”श्रुतिः । कृतोपकारस्य प्रत्युपकारोऽपि ऋणत्वेन स्वीक्रि-यते । तदभिप्रायेणैव “प्राणैर्दशरथप्रीतेरनृणं कण्टवर्त्तिभि-रिति” रघौ वर्णितम् ।
