 (अनु + मृ + भावे ल्युट् ।) पश्चा-न्मरणं । भर्त्तरि मृते तत्पादुकादिकमादाय ज्वल-च्चितारोहणपूर्व्वकं स्त्रिया मरणं । यथा --“देशान्तरमृते पत्यौ साध्वी तत्पादुकाद्वयं ।निधायोरसि संशुद्धा प्रविशेत् जातवेदसं” ॥
इति ब्रह्मपुराणं ॥
ब्राह्मण्या निषेधमाह, स्मृतिः ।“पृथक् चितिं समारुह्य न विप्रा गन्तुमर्हति” ॥
