apprehensive organ
there are eight such grahas, viz.
प्राण, ‘inhaling or nose
वाच्, ‘speech
जिह्वा,
‘tongue
चक्षुस्, ‘eye
श्रोत्र, ‘ear
मनस्,
‘mind
हस्त, ‘hand
त्वच्, ‘skin:’ these have
eight corresponding अति-ग्राहस् or objects, viz.
अपान, ‘exhaling substance
नामन्, ‘name
रस,
‘sap or taste
रूप, ‘form
शब्द, ‘sound
काम,
‘desire
कर्मन्, ‘action
and स्पर्श, ‘touch.’
