अप्रमा Tatpur. f. (-मा) The reverse of प्रमा, viz.

as अप्रमाण I. q. v.
e. g. in Mādhava's Jaiminīya-nyāyam.:
सदाचारोऽप्रमा मा वा निर्मूलत्वादमानता अष्टकादेरिवै-
तस्य समूलत्वात्प्रमाणता होलाकोत्सवादिसदाचारस्य मूलभू-
तवेदाभावादप्रामाण्यमिति चेत् &c.
or गुणनामत्वसंदे-
हादप्रमा चोदनेति चेत् नोक्तन्यायेन संघस्य नामधेयत्वनिर्ण-
यात्.
^2 (In the Vaiśeṣika philosophy.) Knowledge which
is not absolute, viz. knowledge which is either at variance
with the properties of the thing supposed to be known (see
विपर्यास), as if one believes, he knows ‘Soul or Self when
he attributes to it properties belonging to Body’, or know-
ledge based on doubt (see संशय), as if one does not know
whether ‘an object is a man or a post’. E. neg. and प्रमा.
