शफक (zaphaka)

Śaphaka is the name of some plant in the Atharvaveda.^1 It
is also mentioned in the Āpastamba Śrauta Sūtra, ^2 where it
seems to denote an edible water plant or fruit, perhaps a water
nut. It may be so called from its leaves being shaped like
hoofs (Śapha).
