वंक्षु / VAṀKṢU. A river which is famous in the Purāṇas. The low-caste people who lived on the basin of this river, came to the rājasūya (imperial consecration) of yudhiṣṭhira. (M.B. Sabhā Parva, Chapter 51, Stanza 17).

वङ्क्षुः,
स्त्री,
 (वहतीति । वह + बाहुलकात् कुन् ।नुम् च ।) गङ्गास्रोतोविशेषः । यथा, --“तस्याः स्रोतसि सीता च बङ्क्षर्भद्रा चकीर्त्तिता ॥
”सा च केतुमालवर्षस्था गङ्गा । यथा । एवंमाल्यवच्छिखरान्निष्पतन्ती तत उपरतवेगाकेतुमालमभिवङ्क्षुः प्रतीच्यां दिशि सरित्पतिंप्रविशति । इति श्रीभागवते ५ स्कन्धे १७अध्यायः ॥
