tical word (being the second of the three Vyāhṛtis
भूर् भुवः स्वर्, uttered by every Brāhman in
commencing his daily prayers, see व्याहृति, and cf.
Manu II. 76
from its being pronounced between
भू, the earth, and स्वर्, heaven, भुवस् is supposed
to mean ‘the atmosphere’ situated between the two
it was probably originally the pl. of 2. भू, q. v.
in
Hari-vaṃśa 11506, Bhuvas is described as one of the
mind-born sons of Brahmā)

worlds, (according to the system which supposes
seven worlds rising one above the other)
