Prati-dhi is mentioned in the Sūryā hymn of the Rigveda^1
as part of the chariot on which the bride is taken home. It is
impossible to determine with certainty exactly what is meant
Roth^2 understands it to mean a cross-piece of wood fastened to
the pole.
