paṭimoka, or pati°, m. (= Skt. pratimoka, defined pw 〔5.260〕 das Umlegen, Umhängen, but may rather be concrete, an ornament fastened on
certainly this is the mg. in BHS), an ornament fastened on: caturṇāṃ varṇānāṃ paṭimokā (so mss., Senart em. °modakā) abhunsuḥ suvarṇasya ca rūpyasya Mv 〔i.195.14〕, of a city gate
so also 〔iii.228.7〕, where mss. and text pratimodakā, v.l. pati°
twice in Bhvr. cpds., of elephants (hasti-sahasrāṇi), dantapatimokāni śuṇḍā-patimokāni (so Senart, essentially with mss.) Mv 〔ii.453.17〕, with ornaments (garlands?) on their tusks and trunks.
