EnglishGaupālāyana (‘descendant of Gopāla’) is the patronymic of
Śucivṛkṣa in the Maitrāyaṇī Saṃhitā.^1 It is also the patro-
nymic of Aupoditi, Sthapati of the Kurus, in the Baudhāyana
Śrauta Sūtra, ^2 and, as Gaupāleya, of Upoditi or Aupoditi in the
Pañcaviṃśa Brāhmaṇa.^3
