गोत्रज (gotraja)

गोत्रज पुंस्त्री गोत्रे समाने वंशे जायते जन--ड । एक-गोत्रोत्पन्ने “तत्सुतो गोत्रजौ बन्धुः” याज्ञ० ।यद्यपि गोत्रोत्पन्नमात्रेऽस्य प्रवृत्तिस्तथापि अशौचग्रहणे“दशाहेन सपिण्डास्तु शुध्यन्ति प्रेतसूतके । त्रिरा-त्रेण सकुल्यास्तु स्नात्वा शुध्यन्ति गोत्रजाः” व्यासवाक्येगोत्रजपदं पारिभाषिकं यथाह वृहन्मनुः “सपण्डितातु पुरुषे सप्तमे विनिवर्त्तते । समानोदकभावस्तु निवर्त्ते-ताचतुर्दशात् । जन्मनाम्नां स्मृतेरेके तत्परं गोत्रजा-मताः” इति “गोत्रजा निवृत्तसमानोदकभावाः शु० त० रघु० ।वस्तुतः गोत्रजपदस्य गोत्रोत्पन्नमात्रार्थकत्वेऽपि सामा-न्यविशेषन्यायेन सपिण्डादेर्विशेषाशौ चोक्तेस्तद्भिन्नपर-त्वम् अत एव “तत्सुतो गोत्रजोबन्धुरित्यत्र याज्ञ० वचनेगोत्रजपदेन पितामह्यादेर्ग्रहणमिति तद्व्याख्याने चमिता० “गोत्रजाः सपिण्डाः पितामह्यादयः समान-गोत्राः” इत्युक्तम् ।
